  • What's in it for me?

    You get the chance to participate in an experiential learning program outside of your typical school setting. You will improve your teamwork, leadership, networking and presentation skills- skills that are necessary to succeed in the business world. In addition, you and your teammates get the chance to win cash prizes!
  • How do I register?

    Registering is fast and easy. You have two options: hand in a completed form to your mentor when they visit your school or simply fill out the registration form online.
  • What are the requirements to register?

    You must be attending one of the following school boards: Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, or Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board. If your school does not fit into the above-mentioned criteria, it must be approved by the HSBH team prior to registration.
  • Is there a registration fee?

    No! This gives you another reason to take advantage of the amazing opportunities HSBH has to offer
  • What does the competition involve?

    HSBH includes both a written and oral component. A final report, detailing the results of your primary and secondary research as well as your marketing plan, must be submitted at the end of the competition. In addition, if your team becomes a HSBH finalist, you will need to present your team's ideas in front of a panel of judges. Keep in mind, if you go above and beyond the requirements of this competition, you will surely stand out among your fellow competitors.
  • How much time will I need to devote to this competition?

    It is entirely at your discretion how much time you choose to devote to this competition. You should schedule regular meetings with your teammates in order to stay on track. Remember, what you get out of this competition will be a direct result of what you put into it.
  • How many members are allowed per team?

    Teams must be comprised of two to four students. Be sure to choose your teammates wisely, as they will determine your fate in this competition.
  • What goes on during the competition's seminars?

    Each of the hour and a half, bi-weekly seminars will be held at McMaster University. Every seminar will be given by various industry professionals, past competitors, and coordinators. Their expertise will surely help you and your teammates develop your marketing strategy.

    Coming to these seminars is not mandatory, however, attendance will be taken and bonus marks will be allotted to teams that do choose to attend.

  • Is there any travelling involved?

    The only time you and your teammates will need to do any travelling is when you attend the seminars and closing ceremonies. Any parking costs incurred from these events are the responsibilities of the participant (s). Meetings with your assigned mentor each week will be held in your area, your travel costs will be kept to a minimum.
